The speaker will be Joaquin Aja on the topic “Growing Orchids by the Seaside.” 

April is our officer election meeting.  Please think about your interest in serving as an officer and respond to this email. Your name will be placed in nomination along with those currently willing to run; Suzanne Kirkpatrick,  President, Eduardo Covarrubias,  Vice President, and Kimberley Bennett, Secretary.  We are also actively recruiting Board Members.

We are proposing a change in the bylaws to make the Treasurer position an appointment by the Garden Club Board and of indeterminate term length due to Mexican regulations governing this role.

A report on the Bugambilia Festival (May 17-25) and our beautification project will also be presented.  There are so many exciting events planned that the committee has extended the festival an additional day.

This event will begin at Hidalgo Park, Puerto Vallarta at 5.00pm sharp (Please arrive a little early). The walk will take place along the Malecon ending at Lazaro Cardenas Park where an exhibition and awards ceremony will be held.

Prizes and awards for this event will be published two weeks before the event on all our social media sites, through print and on the radio, along with of course being published on our main page.

All awards will be presented on the same day as the event.

This exciting and fun contest is completely FREE!!

There is no restriction for this event on the size, dimension or shape of your display, your imagination is the limit!!

Registration closes one full day before the beginning of the event but please reserve your space as we will have a maximum number of participants.

You and your own team will be responsible for the moving of your floral crowns along the walk!

This event will take place on Saturday May the 18th at 6.30pm.

The start location will be Hidalgo Park where the parade will begin. Leaving from this location Catrinas followed by a procession of crowns of the dead will travel along the malecon picking up more catrinas on the way. Stops will be made in certain spaces for Catrinas to provide our spectators with an impressive performance, the parade will then end at Lazaro Cardenas Park where the awards ceremony will take place for the best Catrina in Puerto Vallarta!!

All participants in the Catrina parade will have traditional face paintings and colourful costume designs! The colours will ofcourse be predominantly black with great hats, fans, canes, umbrellas, gloves and elegant jewlery!

BIENVENIDOS AL REGISTRO

DEL CONCURSO Y DESFILE DE CATRINAS

La cita es el dia Sabado  18 de mayo del 2013 a las 6:30 de la tarde en e parque Hidalgo, en donde se llevara acabo el arranque del desfile y procesión de catrinas y corona de muertos.

La salida iniciara en el parque hidalgo, ubicado en el centro de vallarta al inicio del malecón  donde arrancara la procesión de extravagantes catrinas, seguido por una procesión de coronas de muertos. Todas las catrinas Continúan por todo el malecón en dirección al parque Lazaro Cardenas,   durante todo el recorrido la procesión se detendrá para que algunas catrinas se apoderen del espacio y nos deleiten con una impresionante actuación, al final del rrecorrido en el parque Lázaro Cárdenas en donde se llevara acabo la premiacion a la mejor catrina vallartense.

Todos los participante  vestidos totalmente de catrinas elegantes con su  tradicional pintura de en el rostros como señoritas de vistosos diseños  y esponjados vestidos con crinolinas, de varios colores, pero predominando el característico luto, sombreros de plumas, abanicos, bastones, paraguas, guantes y elegantes collares.

¿Quienes y Como Pueden Participar?

• hombres y mujeres de todas las edades
• todos los participantes debe de presentarse representado un catrina
• con vestidos y maquillaje
• se premiara originalidad, vestuario, pintura y accesorios.
• para participar deben de registrarse previamente.
• por ser la primera edición del festival el registro no tiene ningún costo.

Se premiaran a los 2 mejores Representaciones de Catrina

los premios se haran publicos una semana antes del evento.

BUGAMBILIA FESTIVAL FLORAL FLOAT PARADE

FRIDAY MAY 24

The tour leaves at 5:00 p.m. from  Agustin Flores Contreras  municipal  Stadium car park, all floats will take the main road to Hotel Rosita where floral floats will be divided into two groups-

•  Light cars will travel along the Malecon
• Heavy cars on the street behind the Malecon.

All floats will continue along Basilio Badillo and turn down to Lazaro Cardenas park to the street next to the espresso. The parade ends at approximately 2.30pm, where we can all  join the other festival events…….

Your chance to get creative with your vehicles all for Puerto Vallarta,s 1st Bugambilia Festival 2013!!!

Los invitamos a que se unan en este gran evento en Puerto  Vallarta

El evento tendrá inicio el día viernes  17 de mayo , a las 8 de la mañana con la colocación y elaboración de todos los tapetes florales en diferentes locaciones en el Centro de la ciudad.

Los tapetes florares permanecerán  colocados toda la semana del festival  del 17 al 24 de mayo.

cada tapete estará marcado en el mapa  oficial del Bugambilia Festival con mención del realizador del tape  por medio de una placa con el logotipo de tu empresa  y publicidad.

cada creador de tapete contara con difusión  de su empresa en todos los medios de comunicación,  radio y prensa, asi como en las redes Sociales.

Todo el evento estará documentado por medio de un vídeo  y este sera publicado en  YOU TUBE .

Al final del festival se entregara el Galardón al Mejor tapete Floral de Puerto Vallarta. los invitamos a ser parte del inicio de una nueva tradición en Puerto Vallarta..

• los participantes pueden ser  cualquier Empresa, Hotel, Restaurante o Particular .

los materiales permitidos son:

1. flores y PETALOS 
2. tallos y hojas
3. ramas,  de pino y palma o otro
4. arena, tierra, y  grava
5. ASERRIN
6. arroz
7. cualquier tipo de semillas
8. sal o azúcar, café
9. polvo de colores y pintura vegetal
10. frutas y vegetales
11. pasto y raíces
12. madera y bamboo
13. gises de colores
14. lodo   y tierra

y no te preocupes si no sabes como se hace.. nuestro sistema te envia un manual paso a paso para que instales tu tapete floral.
